  • Boys win, will defend district title Thursday

    Carroll County boys soccer started the 31st District first round match against host Gallatin County in quicksand-mode before finishing strong with a 7-1 victory.

    Gallatin County’s Austin Steurer scored a goal within the first two minutes of the match. The Wildcats outhustled and worked harder than the Panthers in the first part of the first half.

  • Lady Raiders leave Carrollton with win, 2-0

    The Lady Panthers volleyball team struggled in their fifth different rotation of the season, losing 25-16, 25-18, to the visiting Lady Raiders Tuesday. The loss broke Carroll’s six-game winning streak.

    “We didn’t play great, but we played well enough to win,” Trimble head coach Ruth Staples said. “But we had some great plays too. I see great things, I just see a lot of silly mistakes. But, fortunately, we missed nine serves and still came out with a win, so I can’t complain. I have to be happy.”

  • Volleyball wins at Owen

    Carroll County volleyball traveled to Owen County Oct. 2 and returned home with a win. The win offset their lone district loss to Owen County Sept. 11.

    The win also extended Carroll’s winning streak to six matches.

    Carroll dropped the first set 13-25. The Lady Panthers had nine serve receiving errors while managing only 13 serves.

    Carroll won the next three sets 25-18, 25-16, 25-12 with a combined six serve receiving errors.

  • Carroll beats Frankfort, 2-1

    Carroll County High School boys soccer extended their win streak to seven games Thursday, Oct. 2, with a 2-1 win over visiting Frankfort High School.

    “Frankfort was a lot taller and bigger than I remember from last year,” head coach Ben Crutcher said. “I told the team this would be a tough game and a close game. I told them that this team was pretty good, and they were going to bring it.”

  • Carroll wins over Henry to earn top district seed

    Carroll County volleyball secured the No. 1 seed in the 31st District Tournament Sept. 30, with a 3-1 victory over Henry County. The Lady Panthers ran away with game one, 25-7, before the Lady Cats battled back to take game two, 25-17. The Lady Panthers rebounded and won games three and four - 25-17,  25-15 - to win the match.

    “I just think all around, they just played well,” head coach Lynn Eaglin said. “That one game got us … [but] we were able to pull it out. They looked good.”

  • Panthers take win at Gallatin into bye

    Heavy rains could not dampen the Panthers’ spirits Friday night, as Carroll County came home from Warsaw with a win, 40-28, over Gallatin County, ending a five-game losing streak. The Panthers will take this momentum into their bye week, giving them two weeks to prepare for their remaining three games – district matchups against Owen County and Trimble County and a season finale at Dayton.

  • Slow start hurts Carroll’s chances as Henry wins, 5-0

    The Lady Cats jumped out to an early lead on the Lady Panthers Thursday, ultimately winning 5-0, Sept. 25. The Lady Panthers continue to improve, but could not match Henry County’s offense.

  • Volleyball pulls out 3-2 win

    It came down to the wire, but the Lady Panthers volleyball team squeaked out a win over visiting Williamstown Sept. 24, 3-2, by scores of 25-20, 16-25, 18-25, 25-17, 15-11. Overall, Carroll outscored Williamstown by just one point, 99-98.

    Head coach Lynn Eaglin said the win was “a morale booster,” and evened out the team’s record at 8-8. The girls lost to the Lady Demons earlier in the season in five games as well.
