  • Carroll unable to hold late lead, falls in overtime

    Carroll County extended its losing streak to nine games with a 70-68 overtime loss to Eminence in a 31st District game, Jan. 20.

    Carroll County held a 60-56 lead with 32.9 seconds left in the game. “We could not finish, we had the lead, ” Carroll County head coach Brian Crank said. “Losing streaks are hard to break.”

  • Dragons outpace Panthers, 84-55

    The Carroll County Panthers faced a tough opponent Tuesday night in 8th Region-leader South Oldham. The game was tied with a little more than two minutes left in the first quarter, but the Panthers couldn’t keep pace on offense against the Dragons, ultimately losing the game 84-55.

  • Lady Panthers notch home win over Frankfort

    After a slow first quarter, the Carroll County Lady Panthers built a small lead in the second quarter over Frankfort and pulled away in the fourth, winning 39-25.

    Carroll only hit 28 percent from the field (11-39), but they succeeded in getting to the free throw line, going 13-25 for 52 percent.

    Frankfort struggled offensively, going 10-50 (20 percent) from the field and 4-14 (29 percent) from the free throw line.

  • All-A honors

    Junior Abigail Aulbach and seniors Haley Dermon and Evan McMahan were named to the All ‘A’ All-Tournament Team. 

  • Boys struggle on the boards in loss to Owen

    The rebounding disparity, especially on the offensive glass, was the biggest factor in Carroll County’s loss to Owen County Tuesday night. The Rebels grabbed 19 offensive rebounds–the same number of defensive rebounds the Panthers tallied–and outrebounded the Panthers 41-22 overall. Tied 22-22 at halftime, Owen County outscored Carroll County 36-20 in the second half to win, 58-42.

  • Lady Panthers make a comeback but fall just short against Owen

    A poor shooting first half put the Carroll County Lady Panthers in a hole they almost dug out of before dropping a 31st District game to Owen County, 38-33, Tuesday night.

  • Lady Panthers fall in All ‘A,’ 41-34

    Coming off its best game of the season, the Carroll County Lady Panthers hoped the consistency would carry over into the semifinal 8th Region All “A” game Jan. 11, at Gallatin County High School.

    While Carroll played well, inconsistent play resulted in the Lady Panthers losing to Walton-Verona, 41-34.

  • Lady Panthers score district win over Eminence, 50-21

    Offensive execution and overall good defense led to a 50-21 Carroll County win over visiting Eminence Saturday, Jan. 14.

    The Lady Panthers shot 41 percent (18-44) from the field and hit five 3-pointers (5-16) in the game. Carroll outscored Eminence in every quarter except the third and outrebounded their opponent 36-23. They committed 15 turnovers, compared to 17 for the Lady Warriors.

  • Carroll loses road games at Gallatin

    Carroll County High School’s boys and girls basketball teams fell short against Gallatin County High School over the weekend. The Panthers lost 67-40 Friday night, while the Lady Panthers lost 48-31 Saturday afternoon.

    The Wildcats outscored the Panthers 20-12 in the first quarter and the Panthers were unable to catch up. The Panthers shot 36 percent (18-50) from the field and shot just five free throws (3-5) and committed 27 turnovers. Gallatin outrebounded Carroll 35-17, including 11 offensive to five for Carroll.
