    It was the tale of two halves for the Carroll County Panthers, as they lost 52-45 to Bethlehem in the semifinal of the North American Stainless Classic Dec. 28.

    “If the intensity had been the same in the first half as it was in the second half, we go home winners,” head coach Brian Crank said. “We didn’t have the first half like the second half and that was the whole difference in the game was the energy, the heart and the effort between the two halves and that’s what cost us the game.”

  • Lady Panther basketball played...

    Carroll County Lady Panthers traveled to Shelbyville, Ky. to play in the Lady Rockets Legends Holiday Tournament Dec. 20-22. Carroll won one game and lost three, placing seventh in the tournament.

    The Lady Panthers lost a close game to Grayson County, 63-56. Abby Evans led the team in scoring with 22 points. Abigail Aulbach and Andrea Searcy each added 10 points. Hannah McCarty scored nine points. Aulbach and Amelia Napier each had eight rebounds.

    Carroll beats Henry

    Carroll County Lady Panthers picked up a big district win on the road Dec. 12, defeating Henry County 57-39.

    Abigail Aulbach posted a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Amelia Napier also hit double figures with 13 points and seven rebounds. Jenna Wilson scored nine points and pulled in six rebounds, while Andrea Searcy scored eight points, Hannah McCarty scored five points, and Abby Evans and Katie Osborne each scored four points.

  • Panthers off to slow start, 2-5

    Henry outscores Carroll in fourth to win

    Henry County Wildcats outscored the Carroll County Panthers 27-12 in the fourth quarter to win the game 65-58, Dec. 12, at home.

    The Panthers trailed by just three at halftime, 29-26, and outscored the Wildcats 20-9 in the third quarter to take a 46-38 lead heading into the final frame.

    The two teams shot similar percentages from the field, as Henry hit 45 percent and Carroll hit 43 percent. However, Henry outrebounded Carroll 29-18.

  • CCHS accepting nominations for...

    Carroll County High School is accepting nominations for its Wall of Fame, a recognition given to the school’s outstanding student-athletes. Nominations must be given in person at the CCHS Site Based Decision Making Council meeting at 3 p.m. Jan. 9, or emailed to Athletic Director Paul Stone by Jan. 2. Stone’s email is paul.stone@carroll.kyschools.us.

    Carroll County Lady Panthers have made Carrollton a tough place for the Owen County Lady Rebels to play the last couple of years as Carroll County posted a 49-42 win Dec. 8.

    Both teams played deliberate styles as Carroll settled into a two-three zone in the first half. Owen County had a possession that took almost three minutes off the clock in the first half.

  • Carroll falls to Oldham

    Carroll County Lady Panthers lost their first game of the season, 69-35, when they ran into a tough Oldham County team Dec. 9. The teams squared off in the Ronald McDonald Classic at Oldham County. Carroll County head coach Ron Henderson was an assistant coach at Oldham County before coaching at Carroll.

  • Carroll picks up district win...

    It wasn’t always pretty, but, in the end, it was a win over a 31st District rival, as the Carroll County Panthers defeated the visiting Owen County Rebels 53-40 Dec. 8.

    Head coach Brian Crank expressed his disappointment during his post-game interview on his team’s lack of execution, particularly to start the game. “Overall execution wasn’t there; it wasn’t very crisp,” he said. “It wasn’t there for whatever reason, but it was a win. Last year if we had played that bad, we would have got beat.”
