  • Noble confident in Lady Panthers...

     After being the assistant coach for two Carroll County High School sports, Josh Noble is ready to take the reins as head coach of the Lady Panthers soccer team.

    “I’m excited for the opportunity to help teach these young girls about soccer and how to play,” he said.

    Noble coached the JV squad last season and has been a CCHS assistant baseball coach for the past two seasons. He also has on-the-field experience, playing on the varsity squad for four years at Scottsburg High School in Indiana.

    The Lady Panthers’ 2016 debut may not have gone as well as first-year head coach Josh Noble would have hoped, but he could not fault his team’s effort. The Lady Panthers lost 9-0 to visiting Villa Madonna Aug. 15.

    Carroll graduated six seniors from last year’s team, but it was a squad that began the season with only two players with varsity experience. Head coach Lynn Eaglin brings a young team to the court this year, but one that gained varsity experience last year.

    The Carroll County High School girls golf team has grown in numbers this season and has a new coach to lead them in Allison Burgess.

    Veteran junior Ciara Hamilton and second-year player sophomore Kaileigh Burgess will lead this year’s Lady Panthers. Rounding out the team is a trio of eighth-graders who are new to the sport, but eager to learn: Taylor Franklin, Gabriella Hembree and Grace Long. With a group of five, the girls will be able to score as a team this season.

    The 2016 version of the Carroll County High School boys’ soccer team will have plenty of new faces as CCHS alum and new head coach Kevin States takes over a team that has won four consecutive district titles.

    “We have four returning starters all on the offensive end,” States said. “We have a solid core of four seniors, but with only two juniors with varsity playing time we are really a young team.”

    “Coaching high school baseball has been my dream,” new Carroll County High School baseball coach Levi Bristow said at the meet and greet held in his honor Aug. 8.

    “Carroll County baseball has been our most successful program the past four years,” Carroll County athletic director Paul Stone said. “We wanted a good candidate to continue building on the success of Coach Jimmy Ray. Bristow stood out because of his passion and organizational skills.”

    Carroll County High School soccer hosted the first day of its five-week camp July 24. Camp will be held the next four Sundays (through Aug. 21) at the high school. Cost is $5 per session. Camp begins at 2 p.m. and will last until 3 p.m. for U-6 children and until 5 p.m. for up to U-12.

  • Dixie Chixx softball wins...

    The Dixie Chixx 14U softball team completed a magical two-week run that earned them a state championship and cumulated with a national championship.

    The team defeated Crete Phoenix 4-0 in the USSSA National Championship Great Lakes on July 24, in Columbus, Ind.

    The team only won one pool game at the national championships that helped to determine where they would land in the brackets. But once the team reached the double elimination bracket play, it swept all four games in route to the championship.

  • Soccer Camp | July21, 2016

    Carroll County High School soccer will host its annual soccer camp beginning Sunday, July 24, and continuing the next four Sundays (through Aug. 21). Camp will be held from 2-5 p.m. at the high school field. Cost is $25 for U-8, U-10 and U-12. Camp will be one hour for U-6 and cost $15. Campers can register the day of camp.
