A lot of success that happens within the foul-ball boundary lines in fast-pitch softball has a lot to do with the pitching and catching.

Trimble County High School Lady Raiders softball Head Coach Walter McHargue, as of right now, said he believes his ptichers and catchers aren’t up to the standards he wants. But, he says, if they continue to work hard, they will be ready to go by March 26 season open at home against the North Oldham Lady Mustangs.

This is a reminder for all the youngsters that plan on playing tee-ball, Minor League, and Little League this year for the Trimble Co. Youth League. There is still time to get your sign-up forms in. Our try-outs will begin at noon on March 14. We plan on having the try-outs at the Trimble County Park, weather permitting. If bad weather (rain), the try-outs will be at the Bedford Fire House, behind the Bedford Bank. Please give enough time to check the park first, even if it rained in the morning.

The Lady Panthers may have been out-scored and out-sized in the 8th Region tournament, but the girls and their Carroll County fans outclassed Anderson County, hands down.

High school sports should bring out the best in competition, and good sportsmanship; occasionally it does just the opposite. That was the case Monday night when CCHS played Anderson County at South Oldham High School.

A group of about a dozen Anderson County roughnecks sitting on the Carroll County side of the gym harangued and harassed the Lady Panthers the entire game.

The Panthers were within seconds of advancing in the 31st District Tournament, but were foiled by Henry County Wildcats for the third time this year.

The border rival team entered the Carroll County High School gym that was bursting with fans for the second game on the night, and squeaked out with a 42-43 win.

“There’s only one team that gets to end their season with a win, and everybody else ends up with a loss,” Head Coach Carroll Yager said. “We had hoped to go a little further.”
