    Commonwealth Stadium has been missing something for years.

    Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart hasn’t been able to put his finger on it, it’s just a feeling.

    “When I drive up from the outside now, it’s not what I wanted it to feel like,” he said recently in an exclusive interview with a group of reporters from the Herald-Leader, Louisville Courier-Journal and The Associated Press.

  • Wildcats spoil Panthers’ playoff...

    After winning their first playoff game in 10 years last week, the Carroll County Panthers were unable to add on to their four-game winning streak, losing 49-26 to district rival Gallatin County in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs. The Wildcats (10-2) will take on Newport Central Catholic (8-4) Friday night in Warsaw.

  • Breaking the streak: Panthers...

    It’s been a long 10 years, but the Carroll County High School football team has finally put an end to the playoff drought. The Panthers defeated Newport High School, 29-21, Friday, Nov. 8, in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs. It was the school’s first playoff win since Nov. 8, 2003 when the Panthers defeated Bethlehem, 34-31, in overtime.

  • Runnin’ with the best

    Carroll County High School cross country runners freshman Haley Dermon and senior Sierra Martinez competed in the Class A State Meet Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. Dermon finished in 83rd place with a time of 23:07.93, two minutes faster than when the team ran there earlier in the season. Martinez finished in 152nd place with a time of 26:01.83.

    The Lady Panthers qualified for State by their performances in the Class A Regional. Dermon made the All-Region team and finished in 8th place, while Martinez finished in 21st place.

  • Saying farewell to “The 53rd”

    The Family Worship Center held the annual Carroll County High School senior football banquet Thursday, Oct. 31, at the church.  The team’s 11 seniors – John Michael Adams, Matt Bartley, Taylor Byrd, Ryan Davidson, Josh Gibbs, Raven Labrada, Keifer McIntyre, Blake Newby, Michael Welch, Will Wallace and Jacob Wise – were recognized, and they each received footballs signed by the team (below).
