    Boys win, girls fall

    Carroll County boys golf beat Gallatin County at a home meet Sept. 9, at Wheatley 168 to 177. Justin Ray earned medalist honors with a 38. Dru Walker shot another personal best with 40. Blake Belcher shot a  43 and Caleb Stephenson shot a 47 to round out the scoring.

    The Lady Panthers lost their home match to Gallatin. The team shot a 191. Kaileigh Burgess shot a personal best of 65.

  • Carroll shuts out Switzerland in...

    On an already toasty Saturday morning, Carroll County Panthers football head coach Lee Downey was treated with his first ice water shower, celebrating his first win as a varsity head coach and the Panthers’ first win of the season. The Panthers defeated Switzerland County on the road, 58-0.

    The game began under the Friday night lights, but ended in the Saturday morning sunshine as storms led to an hour-and-a-half long postponement before the game was rescheduled for the following morning.

  • Panthers battled back to win All...

    For the first time in its team history, the Carroll County Panthers are 8th Region All ‘A’ Champions, defeating Walton-Verona 4-3, Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Gallatin County High School. It also marked the Panthers’ first win over the Bearcats since 2007. Alex Burns, Cody Damron and David Marshall were named to the All ‘A’ Tournament Team.

    The Carroll County Middle School Panthers visited Bedford last Thursday evening to take on the Trimble County Middle School Raiders. The contest was hard fought by both teams, but when the final whistle blew the Raiders came out ahead with a score of 26-6.

    Carroll County boys’ golf team could not quite defend their 8th Region All ‘A’ title they won for the first time last year, finishing second to Owen County Aug. 27.  The Owen County girls’ team won their regional title.

  • Carroll falls at Henry

    After a strong first half at Henry County, tied 7-7, the Carroll County football Panthers struggled to start the third quarter and were unable to recover, ultimately falling 36-7.

    Head coach Lee Downey said the team felt confident that they could compete against the Wildcats coming into the game.

    Carroll County’s volleyball team traveled to Williamstown High School as they opened their season with a 3-0 win (25-22, 25-16, 26-24) Aug 18.
