  • Carroll falls to Henry, 9-0

    The Lady Panthers soccer team lost 9-0 to Henry County Sept. 26. Henry County scored its first three goals within the first eight minutes of the game, putting Carroll County in a hole quickly. The first came after a defender was beat in a foot chase; the second off a rebounded missed shot that clanged off the side post; and the third after a free kick on Carroll’s end of the field was intercepted. Head coach Josh Noble said it was these “silly mistakes” that gave Henry the early lead.

  • Golf teams finish season at...

    The Carroll County High School boys and girls golf teams finished their seasons at the NCKC and Regional matches.

    The Panthers finished second in the NCKC Tournament Sept. 21, at Sugar Bay. Blake Belcher (79), Eli Yocum (83) and Evan Oney (90) were named to the All-Tournament Team. Rounding out Carroll’s scores were Caleb Stephenson with a 91 and Garrett Sanders with 98.

    After back-to-back road losses, the Carroll County Panthers righted the ship Friday night, defeating district rival Gallatin County, 34-12.

  • Lady Panthers blank Bellevue on...

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers soccer team posted their highest scoring total of the season, sending seniors Caitlin Poe and Juliana Kinser home with a 7-0 win over Bellevue on Senior Night Sept. 25.

    “It was the best team-game we have played,” head coach Josh Noble said. “They played aggressively. Everybody wanted to score, so they were calling for the ball. I’m happy; I’m ecstatic.”

  • Lady Panthers fight for 3-2...

    Carroll County picked up their first 31st District win of the season Thursday, defeating Gallatin County 3-2 (26-28, 25-23, 25-11, 16-25 15-11).

    Game one was back and forth through the first half. After a push kill by Abby Evans, 12-12, Abigail Aulbach notched two blocks on the same point before a kill by Evans finally ended the volley. Jordan Ray’s second serve went into the net, tying the game back at 13. Gallatin scored the next three points, before being whistled for hitting the ball four times.

    Carroll County volleyball spent the week on the road coming out with a win at Grant County but dropped matches to Eminence and Lloyd Memorial.

  • Panthers fall to Eminence, 35-6

    The football Panthers’ struggles continued Friday night, losing 35-6 at Eminence.

    “We are struggling to execute,” head coach Hunter Cantwell said. “We’re not doing the simple things that help you win games.”

    However, Cantwell said there also continues to be bright spots and areas of improvement. “The guys are fighting for all of the fourth quarter. Leadership has been great. Guys are playing hard and playing between the whistles.”

    Hindered by injuries, missing players and yellow cards, the Carroll County Panthers scored early and hung on for a 2-1 win over district foe Gallatin County Tuesday, Sept. 19, to remain undefeated in district play (3-0). The Panthers are in first place and will face Henry County Tuesday, Sept. 26, at home. Carroll won the match at Henry Sept. 14, 3-2. The Panthers led 2-0, but gave up the lead and won on a game-winning goal by Felix Avila with less than a minute left.

    For the first time since 2012, the Lady Panthers soccer team finished on the winning side against a 31st District opponent. Carroll County beat Gallatin County 2-1, Tuesday, Sept. 19, their first program-win over the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Panthers’ last district win was Aug. 30, 2012, at Henry County.
