    A big play by junior forward Zach Wise at the end of regulation play bought some extra time for the Carroll County Panthers in last week’s home matchup with Henry County. Carroll’s hopes disintegrated in the overtime period, however, as the Panthers couldn’t find the basket and fell 59-50 for their 10th loss in 13 starts this season.

    Cool and confident, the Carroll County Lady Panthers held off district foe Henry County 66-56 to claim their seventh win of the season.

    Sophomore Hannah Devine led all scorers with 21 points, while senior Sarah Osborne also hit double-digits, scoring 11 points.

  • TCMS seventh-grade boys'...

    The Trimble County Middle School Raiders seventh-grade boys basketball team went home with the trophy Saturday, Jan. 9, after winning the 8th Region Class All A tournament at Carroll County Middle School earlier in the day.

    The team beat the Carroll County Panthers' seventh-grade team to win the title.

    Logan Black, T.J. Payton, Brian Haney, Dusty Wyssbrod and Evan Long all were named to the All-Tournament Team. Long was named the tournament's most valuable player award, as well.

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers dismantled Gallatin County’s offense during the second half en route to a 52-39 basketball victory at home on Saturday, Jan. 9.

  • Panthers snap losing streak

    The Carroll County Panthers snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 64-59 win over Sunland Baptist Academy from the Bahamas during the Sunshine Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Dec. 30. Will Yager scored a season high 29 points to lead the Panthers. D.C. Craig and Andy Sisenstein added 13 apiece to contribute to the win.

    CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Whitney Ballinger’s All-America campaign continues in full stride as the new year begins. The 6-foot-3 junior forward from Carrollton picked up her third Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor Monday after leading 10th-ranked Campbellsville University (13-1) to a pair of victories in New Orleans, Jan. 2-3.

    Determined to leave the Sunshine State with a win, the Lady Panthers beat the Lady Seahawks of Sunlake High School 62-14 in the third round of the Daytona Beach Sunshine Classic on Dec. 30.

  • Lady Panthers lose barnburner to...

    Up 15-13 at the half, the Lady Panthers were outscored by the rival Lady Rebels of Owen County 12-4 in the third quarter. Carroll County fought back in the fourth, but fell just short, 32-30 at Owen. Senior Marissa Brindley led the team with nine points on three of five shooting from the floor and three of four free throws. The Lady Panthers are now 6-8 on the season.

    Carroll County Parks and Recreation is hosting a basketball league for adult men ages 16 and up. Games will be played on Sunday evenings at the Carroll County Middle School gymnasium.
