  • Baseball team honors players

    The Carroll County High School baseball team held its annual banquet May 29 at the high school. The following are the awards received by the players:

    Zakk Hicks - Team MVP, Cy Young (top pitcher), NCKC All-Conference Team and 8th Region All-Tournament Team.

    Jacob Wise - Team Captain, senior plaque and most stolen bases.

    Keifer McIntyre - Most quality at bats and senior plaque.

    Taylor Hill - Highest GPA and senior plaque.

    Austin Crowell - Highest GPA and senior plaque.

  • Panthers’ Regionals run ends in...

    If you really want to know what happened in the baseball 8th Regional semifinal between Carroll County and Anderson County Tuesday night, don’t look at the final score.

    The two teams were deadlocked at one run apiece in the bottom of the sixth before the Bearcats took advantage of a Panther mental error and added a couple RBI singles to take a 5-1 lead and ultimately win by the same margin.

  • Ogden shows year-round...

    Sit down and talk to Carroll County High School senior Kelsey Ogden for a little while and you will discover a few things: She has a bubbly personality, loves softball, but is equally as dedicated to her schoolwork and involvement in the community. The starting third baseman and cleanup hitter for the Lady Panthers softball team, Ogden has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and is a leader in school and on the field. Because of this, Ogden has been named The News-Democrat’s 2014 Female Student-Athlete of the Year, an award sponsored by Earl Floyd Ford.

  • Hall loves helping teammates...

    Take a look at the Carroll County High School soccer record books, and you will see Michael Hall’s name written all over them. He is the all-time leading scorer with 70 career goals. During his senior year, he broke his own school-record for most goals scored in a season with 36 and tied Brandon Stewart’s record for most assists in a season with 13. He also scored five goals in one half against Gallatin County, another record.

  • 31st District All-Tournament Team
  • Panthers beat Rebels in...

    For the first time since 2010, the Carroll County Panthers are 31st District Champions, defeating Owen County in the championship, 9-7, Friday, May 23, at Henry County High School. The Panthers also achieved their team goal of winning “The Triple Crown:” 8th Region All ‘A,’ NCKC and 31st District champions. The 2010 squad was the first to achieve this feat.

    John Michael Adams, Keifer McIntyre, Zakk Hicks and Seth Hicks were selected to the 31st District All-Tournament Team.

  • Carroll hangs on to 2-1 win over...

    In a battle of who could execute more plays in clutch situations, it was the Carroll County Panthers who came out victorious, defeating Grant County, 2-1, in the first round of the 8th Region Tournament Monday, May 26, at Henry County High School. The Panthers battled Anderson County from the 30th District Tuesday. The Bearcats defeated South Oldham, 7-3, Monday.

  • 2014 Carroll County Youth Tennis...

    Carroll County Panther youth tennis camp will be held June 4-6, at the high school tennis courts for incoming 3rd-12th grade students. Students in 7th-12th grades will attend from 5-6:30 p.m. and third-sixth grades from 7-8:30 p.m.

    The cost is $40 for all three days if pre-registered by May 23. The cost is $50 at the door or $20 per day. Each camper will receive a t-shirt.
