  • EKU selected as host All ‘A’...

    The Kentucky All “A” Classic is coming back to Eastern Kentucky University.

    Eastern hosted the small-school basketball tournament for boys’ and girls’ teams from 1991 to 2011. The Frankfort Convention Center has hosted the event the past six years.

    The decision, which followed a meeting of the All “A” Classic Board of Directors, was announced Aug. 12, at a news conference at Alumni Coliseum, which will serve as the event venue.

  • Cross country team features full...

    For the second year in a row, Carroll County has enough girl runners to field a full cross-country team. However, the other extreme is the boys’ team does not have any runners.

    Head coach David Otte said he has been recruiting runners for the boys’ team, but has been unable to receive any firm commitments from anyone wanting to run. He said he has had some “verbal” commitments, but they have not shown up at practice yet. Runners have until the end of next week to commit to the team.

  • Ladies fall to Walton-Verona, 10...

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers (0-5) showed signs of improvement Monday, despite being mercy-ruled by a more experienced Walton-Verona squad. The Lady Bearcats (2-1) won 10-0 with 4:35 remaining in the game.

  • Panthers’ offense clicks, but...

    The Carroll County Panthers football team came back from a 20-point second half deficit to pull to within nine in the fourth quarter, but came up just short against the visiting Ludlow Panthers, 56-39, Aug. 18.

    First-year head coach Hunter Cantwell said he was proud of his team’s effort the entire game.

  • Volleyball comes back to win...

    Carroll County’s volleyball team rallied from losses in games two and three to win games four and five and take the match against Williamstown, 3-2, Aug. 15, at home.

    Despite playing eight preseason games-six at the Bluegrass Games in early August and in scrimmages against Shelby County and Trimble County–head coach Lynn Eaglin said her team still had a few “jitter bugs to work out” in the season opener.

    Carroll County girls’ golf defeated Gallatin County 229-245, Aug.15. Medalist for Carroll County was Senior Ciara Hamilton with a 45, Grace Long carded a 54, Kaileigh Burgess scored a 60 and Gabriella Hembree rounded out the scoring with a 70.

  • Girls soccer falls to Connor,...

    Two games into the Carroll County Lady Panthers soccer season and head coach Josh Noble has seen both sides of his team.

    The team hosted Connor High School from Boone County Monday night and took one on the chin as they were defeated in a mercy shortened game 10-0. Tuesday night saw a different team take the field against Louisville’s Whitefield Academy in a 7-2 loss.

  • Panthers golf wins season opener...

    Carroll County boys golf won its season opener against Anderson County Aug. 10, winning 164-171 at home. Blake Belcher (pictured against Trimble County Aug. 15) and Caleb Stephenson led the team with 39 strokes each. Eli Yocum and Garrett Sanders tied with 43 to round out the team score. Evan Oney finished close behind with a 45.
