  • Panthers win at Trimble, home...

    Carroll County traveled to Trimble County and came home with a 4-3 win March 29. Trimble jumped to an early three run lead as starting pitcher Justin Ray started the inning by hitting Robert Harris with a pitch. He scored when Trimble County catcher Adam Young doubled him home. That was the only hit given up by Carroll County pitching. A dropped third strike allowed Young to score. Two more errors in the inning allowed the third run to score.

    Carroll rallied with three runs in the top of the fourth inning.

  • Lady Panthers softball defeats...

    The Lady Panthers softball team picked up their second straight win Tuesday, March 29, with a 16-9 victory over Eminence. Seventh-grader Gracie Craig notched her first career varsity win on the mound.

    Tied at two, the Cooper Lady Jaguars scored five runs in the top of the third, and the Lady Panthers were unable to recover, losing 8-2 in the first of two pool games in The News-Democrat Carroll County Classic, April 1.

    Carroll County Lady Panthers softball team ground out a 7-4 victory over the Williamstown Lady Demons in its second pool play game of The News-Democrat Carroll County Classic tournament Saturday.

    Carroll County had lost a 2-1 decision to Williamstown the week before.

    The Lady Panthers held a 7-1 lead in the top of the last inning but surrendered three runs, which was enough to make Carroll County head coach Chelsie Roy frustrated and a little nervous.

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers managed just two hits against Western Hills in the single elimination game of The News-Democrat Carroll County Classic, falling 10-0 Saturday, April 2.

    Unlike in their win earlier in the day against Williamstown, the Lady Panthers chased balls out of the strike zone and struck out 12 times.

  • Carroll beats Newport, Ludlow in...

    The Carroll County Panthers baseball team swept the competition Saturday in the Ray Brown Memorial Tournament at Newport High School. They defeated host Newport 11-1 and Ludlow 3-2.

    Head coach Jimmy Ray said Saturday was probably the windiest day he has ever been involved in. Everyone played over the two-day tournament, noting it is always good to get the players experience.

  • Carroll competes in first meet...

    The Carroll County High School track and field team competed in its first meet of the season March 22, at the Shelby County All-Comers meet. The teams finished in last place, but had some strong individual performances. Seven schools competed in the girls’ meet: Owen County, Shelby County, Atherton, Franklin County, Collins, Frankfort and Carroll County. Frankfort did not field a boys team. Owen County won the girls’ meet, while Shelby County won the boys’ meet.

  • Searcy pitches shutout as Lady...

    Carroll County Lady Panthers notched their first win of the season behind the strong pitching performance of eighth grader Andrea Searcy as they defeated Lloyd Memorial, 10-0, Monday, March 28.

    Searcy tossed the first shutout of her varsity career as she allowed three hits, no walks and she struck out four Lloyd batters.

    “Andrea pitched ahead in the count the entire game,” Carroll County head coach Chelsie Roy said. “It was a good win for her.”
