    Early mistakes contributed to the Carroll County Panthers finding themselves behind early to an aggressive Spencer County team in the opening round of the 8th Regional Tournament. Despite two huge goals from senior Trystan Amick, it wasn’t enough, as the Panthers lost, 6-2. The first round of the tournament was held at Owen County High School.

    The Carroll County Panthers soccer team battled through multiple injuries, a missing starter and players in new positions, but they achieved their goal: to win a sixth straight 31st District championship. Junior Felix Avila scored Carroll County’s only goal, and the Panthers held on to win 1-0 over Henry County Oct. 12, at Henry County.

    Carroll County football lost a heartbreaker Thursday night, as Owen County drove 97 yards and scored a touchdown and extra point with 58 seconds to go to win, 21-20, in Owenton.

    “We just had individual breakdowns at key times that hurt us,” head coach Hunter Cantwell said. “I thought we played a good game against a very good football team, came out and did a lot of things well, but a lot of little things bit us in the rear and when you play a tough opponent like Owen, those things add up.”

    Christian Academy of Carrollton’s cross country team ran in the Christian Academy of Madison’s race Sept. 18, at Hanover College. Grace Christian of Scottsburg also participated.

  • Season ends for Lady Panthers...

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers soccer team ended its season on the wrong end of a 10-0 score in a game against Owen County in the semifinal game of the 31st District tournament at Henry County, Oct. 9.

    Head coach Josh Noble said his team had nothing to hang its head about. “This team tied the school record with four wins,” he said. “They placed third in the district for the first time.”

    He said he feels for his two seniors Caitlin Poe and Juliana Kinser because they would not be around for something special.

    Carroll County High School boys soccer recognized its two seniors, Trystan Amick and Chris Tilette, Oct. 7. The Panthers were scheduled to play Villa Madonna in a make-up game, but neither team had enough players to play, so Carroll had an intrasquad scrimmage instead.

    The border rivalry between the neighboring Carroll County Lady Panthers and the Trimble County Lady Raiders was played out on the volleyball court in Carrollton on Tuesday, Oct. 3, with the hosts taking a 2-0 win on scores of 25-12 and 25-14.

  • Carroll runs at NCKC

    Williamstown hosted the North Central Kentucky Conference cross county meet where 94 runners competed for conference championships, Sept. 26.

    Owen County’s Allison Bourne was the girls’ individual champion with a time of 21:25 for the 3.2 mile course. Walton-Verona won the team championship with Owen County finishing second and Lloyd-Memorial in third.

    For Carroll County, Julieanna McCollum finished 27th with a time of 29:12 and Lauren Cox finished 38th with a time of 33:17.
