  • Girls golf wins by default over...

    The Lady Panthers win Sept. 3, over Gallatin County at Fairway due to a default. The Lady Wildcats only had three players.

    The two teams decided to play anyway for fun. Hannah McMahan led all golfers with a 49, followed by Ciara Hamilton with a 60. The rest of the Lady Panthers finished closely with Chasity Taylor shooting a 65; Taylor Napier, 66; Jadyn Bailey, 67; and Natalie Bennett, 70.

  • Volleyball defeats Gallatin,...

    The Lady Panthers volleyball team defeated Gallatin County, but fell to Trimble County in the 8th Region All A tournament, held Saturday at Owen County.

    Senior Brittany Yocum and junior Stevie Ogburn were named to the 8th Region All A Tournament team.

    Carroll beat Gallatin, 25-9, 25-17. Junior Karly Prosser led the Lady Panthers with four digs and four aces in game one. In game two, Yocum led the team in digs with five.

    The Lady Raiders defeated Eminence, 2-1, in game one to meet Carroll in the second round.

  • Boys golf places 4th in All A...

    Carroll County High School’s boys golf team competed in the Class A Tournament Aug. 27, at Sugar Bay Golf Course in Gallatin County. The Panthers finished in fourth place.

    Levi Stephenson and Clint Burgess tied at 86, followed by Blake Belcher, 90; Justin Ray, 92; and Chase Hartman, 93.

    Head coach Josh Mefford said the team played very well. The competition was good this year, with five players shooting in the 70s, he said.

  • 2013 Parks and Rec basketball...

    Carroll County Parks and Recreation youth basketball registration will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday from Sept. 9-20 at the office, located on the third floor of the county courthouse.

    Both boys and girls are invited to play. The Pee Wee league for first and second graders costs $15; Minor League for third and fourth grade costs $25. Practices and games will be held on both weekdays and weekends.

  • Soccer teams compete at All-A;...

    Carroll County soccer teams fall in All A

    Panthers soccer was one-and-done in this year’s 8th Region All A Classic, as both the girls and boys teams lost to Walton-Verona Thursday, Sept. 5.

    The girls lost 3-0, but head coach Greg Damron said he could not be any happier with his team. They played together as a unit and was able to hold a conference powerhouse to three goals, he said.

  • Pee Wee football takes the field

     

    The Carroll County Yellow Jackets practiced in the heat Aug. 27. Due to the high heat index, the players had to wait until the second half of practice to play in their helmets and pads.

  • Gridiron Panthers fall 38-33 on...

    Despite a late-game comeback, the football Panthers were not able to convert on a 1st and goal in the waning seconds of the game Friday, losing 38-33 to Moore High School in Louisville. Carroll County is now 1-2 in the young 2013 season, the first time this group of seniors has been below .500 in their careers.

    But head coach Mike Weedman said the group has remained very positive and eager to learn and improve. “I’m just really pleased with their overall attitude,” he said.

  • Girls soccer shuts out Southern...

    The Lady Panthers soccer team saw just how far they have come over the past four years Wednesday night, beating Southern High School of Louisville, 10-0. Southern is a young program that featured only a few players with soccer experience.
