  • Ladies set sights on district...

    Entering its third year of existence, the Carroll County High School girls soccer team is feeling strong and ready to add some hardware.

    Following the annual black and gold intrasquad scrimmage July 28, head coach Greg Damron said he and assistant coach Vernon States agreed that this year’s team is “at the point we were at the end of last fall. It’s like we picked right back up and kept going.”

  • Carroll defeats Trimble in first...

    The Lady Panthers golf team defeated the visiting Lady Raiders 224-226 in their season-opening match Monday at General Butler State Resort Park.

    Freshman Jayden Bailey shot Carroll’s lowest score with a 52, followed closely by freshman Taylor Hayden. Junior Hannah McMahan shot a 55, and seventh grader Ciara Hamilton shot a 64 to round out the scoring for Carroll. Also competing were junior Ashli Childs, 65, and freshman Natalie Bennett.

    Trimble’s Kate Staples medaled, shooting a 45.

  • Kickin’ it old world

    The Carroll County High School Soccer team held its annual British Soccer Camp through Challenger Sports from August 23--27.

    British coaches Alan Urquhart, of Scotland, and Michael Doherty, of Liverpool, provided instruction for two three-hour sessions daily, including work on fundamentals, strategy and gameplay.

  • Fresh start for ladies after...

    After finishing near the bottom of the region last season (5-18), the Lady Panther volleyball team has re-grouped and is ready to wipe the slate clean.

    “I’m excited and ready to start anew,” head coach Kristen Hooper said. “I think we’re going to be a really strong team this year. I feel like we get a lot of energy from our younger ones and experience from our older ones. It makes for a very good combination to drive us towards our goals and succeed.”

  • Boys golf looks to improve...

    With the retirement of long-time Carroll County High School boys golf head coach Warren McEuen, first-year head coach Josh Mefford takes the reins of a team with both experience and up-and-coming talent.

    Seniors Nick Abbott and Zach Beckham lead this year’s squad of about nine players; however Mefford said he expects to pick up a few more when school is back in session.
