  • CCHS runners compete in...

    Running fast and for long distance are the only things that matter in cross country and the Carroll County Panthers showed how good they can be at Williamstown Tuesday, September 1.

    The Panthers met Gallatin and Trimble counties, Walton Verona and Williamstown, and both the girls’ and the boys’ teams had finishers in the top 15.

  • Lady Panthers net win over...

    Carroll County’s Lady Panthers weathered a great start by Trimble County to overcome the visitors 22-25, 25-18 and 25-18 in volleyball action Sept. 9.

    “We always seem to win by the skin of our teeth,” Carroll coach Kristen Arbinger said. “It’s always a work in progress. As we keep working at it we’ll be able to take it to the next level. They can do everything they set their minds to.”

  • Runnin’ Raiders show...

    SPECIAL TO THE TRIMBLE BANNER

    St. Xavier’s Tiger Run is one of the top opening-day races annually in the state of Kentucky. The meet was held at the River Road Country Club in Louisville, Ky.

    Participating teams were those ranked in the www.KytrackXC.com preseason rankings; there were 12 boys teams and 10 girls teams in the field. Both teams from Trimble County are included in the preseason rankings, and both competed.

    The race also included top-ranked teams from Tennessee and Indiana.

  • Carroll drops home opener

    In the first home game under new coach Kristen Arbinger, the Carroll County Lady Panther varsity volleyball team fell to visiting Dixie Heights.

    The Lady Panther varsity volley ball team hosted the Lady Colonels of Dixie Heights losing the final two matches 27-25 and 25-21 after winning the first match 25-20, Tuesday September 1.

  • Hogan headed to state

    Sophomore Quincy Hogan medaled in the Eighth Region class A girls golf tournament qualifying for the All A state tournament in Richmond September 12.

    Hogan finished as the number two qualifier for the state tournament and is a serious golfer with aspirations of  being a college scholarship player and beyond. Hogan had to overcome a less than stellar outing to put herself in the running for a state title.

  • Panthers remain purr-fect after...

    With a full moon as a backdrop the Carroll County Panthers would not be denied on their first home game of the season dominating the entire game with a packed house watching.

    The Ludlow Panthers who have defeated Carroll County for the last seven years had no answer for the Panthers as they came out strong, scored first, often and last with a final of 36-21.

  • Soccer Panthers garner tie with...

    A tie is neither a victory nor a loss, but to a team that has never won a game the Carroll County Panther soccer team was thrilled to get a tie.

    Tuesday, September 1, the Walton Verona Bearcats traveled down I-71 to Panther Field and left with a tie, 3-3.  

    “This was an excellent game,” head coach Ben Crutcher said.  “Our team came to play and it was a huge improvement.  The intensity was there, the heart was there.”

    A soccer match is 80 minutes long and Crutcher praised his team for playing two complete halves.

  • Rotary Club Golf Scramble

    The annual Carrollton Rotary Club/Irving Materials Inc. golf scramble will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9 at General Butler State Park.  Proceeds from the scramble benefit local students through the Rotary scholarship program.

    The scramble offers morning and afternoon flights with six member teams best ball format for 18 holes. Participants compete for a $600 cash prize and $300 for each runner-up team in each flight. Random drawings for other prizes are also awarded.
