  • Lions Club members term first 5K...

    The Carrollton Lions Club members sponsored their first 5K Run\Walk event on Saturday with runners and walkers beginning at the back entrance of General Butler State Resort Park, then proceeding down Lock Road and back. When considering the inclement weather forecast, Lions Club Members were pleasantly surprised when 44 participants including 17 runners and 27 walkers attended the event.

  • Lady Panthers fall to Henry in...

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers won two of their three outings in their own volleyball invitational Saturday. The one that got away, however, was the championship game as Carroll fell to tournament champions Henry County 13-21 and 18-21.

    The Lady Panthers started well, defeating Eminence in pool play 21-17 and 21-12. During the first matchup Carroll County trailed 3-5, then rallied and took a 8-5 lead. Eminence knotted the score at 8-8. The score was also tied at 9-9, 14-14 and 16-16 before Carroll put it away.

  • Carroll runners compete at Owen...

    Carroll County High School’s cross country teams competed on a “very grueling course” at Owen County High School on Tuesday, Sept. 22, according to Coach Joe Creager. “The hilly course caused some slower times for the runners, but overall the kids ran a very competitive race.”

  • Soccer Panthers take second win

    Winning could become addictive as the Carroll County Panther soccer team put its second win in the books Tuesday, September 15 over the Gallatin County Wildcats.

    The Wildcats might have been hoping for a Panther letdown following the Panther win over the Burgin Bulldogs last week.  The Panthers however relished the victory, liked how it felt and wanted more of the same.

  • Homecoming week culminates in...

    Homecoming Friday night began with smoke and fireworks, but the 5-0 start by the Carroll County Panthers football team is anything but smoke and mirrors.

    The Panthers took the field amidst a spray of smoke and fireworks with junior Sarah Beach singing the national anthem. The stands were rocking with a huge crowd to see the Panthers defeat the Walton Verona Bearcats 32-13.

  • Carroll volleyball captures 8th...

    The Lady Panther volleyball team has been waiting to hang a banner in the Panther gym and this year they accomplished that goal.

    The 8th region all A tournament was played with the home court advantage and the Lady Panthers took every advantage they could get.

  • Panther runners host six teams...

    Carroll County hosted six other teams at their one and only home meet of the season Tuesday, September 15 on their home course at General Butler State Park.

    Cross Country is an interesting and almost cruel sport and when participants cross the finish line they are often completely spent and sometimes sick or in tears. It is both a team and an individual sport and is one of the most grueling to participate in.

    Fans saw tackling, shoving, penalties and players and coaches thrown out of the game – and it was only the powder puff football game that is a perennial favorite of the students and the players.
