  • Stewart named to NCKC All-...

    Carroll County’s Ethan Stewart has been named to the 2010-2011 boys’ basketball North Central Kentucky Conference-All Conference Team, as voted on by the coaches in the league. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

  • Curry named NCKC co-player of...

    Carroll County’s Kyndal Curry and Trimble County’s Raegan Black and Chloe Griffith were named the NCKC players of the week.

     Kyndal scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in two games last week and has guarded the other teams’ best player all season long.

    Raegan averaged 20 points, seven rebounds, and two-and-a-half blocks in three wins.

    Chloe averaged 12 points and six rebounds in three wins.  She shot 73 percent from the field.

  • 31st District pairings set

    Pairings for the 2011 31st District Basketball Tournament have been announced by Carroll County High School Athletic Director Randy Mefford. The District games for both boys and girls will be played at the spacious Henry County High School gymnasium in New Castle.

  • Lady Panthers stumble in rivalry...

    A layup by Paige Black early in the fourth quarter sparked a shift in momentum that drove the Trimble County Lady Raiders to a 47-42 triumph over visiting Carroll County last Wednesday.

    Carroll took control of the game early, fronting 13-8 at the first quarter stop and leading by nine, 26-17 at halftime. Trimble cut the margin to five by outpointing the Lady Panthers 14-10 in the third stanza and trailed 36-31 going into the final eight minutes of play. That’s when Black’s layup rattled the Lady Panthers and invigorated her teammates.

    Fans were on the edge of their seats Friday night until the final buzzer sounded. Unfortunately for the home crowd, turnovers and lack of execution down the stretch by the Panthers sealed the win for the visiting Demons of Williamstown, 51-48 in double overtime.

  • Butcher’s free throws chop W-town

    It was a nail biter. In the end the tension-packed Carroll County fan base erupted in frenzied joy as the Lady Panthers battled from behind to defeat Williamstown with a blink of an eyelash left on the clock.

    Carroll County Parks and Recreation 2011 youth baseball and softball registration will be held, Monday – Friday, Feb. 16-March 4 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. third floor of the courthouse and Sunday, Feb. 20 and 27, from 1-4 p.m. at Kathryn Winn Primary.     Hannah Devine named All-8th Region

    Junior Hannah Devine came in second place with 153 points in the voting for Player of the Year honors for the 8th Region. Owen County’s Rianna Gayheart won the award with 160 points. Members of the All-Region team were selected by votes from the coaches in the region. Owen County head coach Bob Osborne was named Coach of the Year. The 8th Region banquet will be held at Henry County High School on March 14.
