    Girls dominate, win 4-1

    After losing their opening tennis match to a powerful Western Hills team, the Carroll County girls’ tennis team has won three consecutive matches with victories over Gallatin County, Grant County and most recently Trimble County, 4-1, on Wednesday April 13.

    Carroll defeated Williamstown and Owen County en route to a match up against Trimble County in the regional championship of the All A 8th Region tournament to be held on April 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Bedford.

    The Panthers defeated Williamstown 7-1 Thursday, setting up Saturday’s match up with the Rebels.
    Carroll held a 4-2 advantage when the skies opened up and drenched the field with rain. The game continued Sunday afternoon, and Carroll picked up right where it had left off. The Panthers scored three runs in the top of the third inning to lead 7-2.

    Carrollton Federal Bank sponsored Hoop Shooters basketball camp and Little Rookies basketball tournament during spring break.

    The event was held at the Kathryn Winn Primary School. There were 25 children who attended the camp and four teams that participated in the tourney.

  • Carroll defeats Trimble in...

    There’s nothing like a win over a border rival to get your season moving in the right direction. The Lady Panthers (1-3) notched their first victory of the season Friday night, 8-7, over the visiting Lady Raiders (1-3).

    Carroll lost to Trimble three times last year, twice during the regular season and during the All-A tournament, by a combined run total of 24-5. Despite missing their starting pitcher and two senior starters to illness, the young Lady Panthers were not intimidated by their rivals.

    Lady Panthers fall to Gallatin County, 5-0

    The Lady Panthers (0-3) lost on the road to Gallatin County 5-0 on Tuesday, March 29. Sarah Hawkins struck out five hitters for the Lady Panthers. However, JV (3-0) won 11-4, with Mackenzie Ogden getting the win on the mound.

  • Panthers Prevail

    The stage was set for a big night. Two teams who played each other down to the wire a season ago were set for a re-match under the bright lights of Whitaker Bank Ballpark, home of the Lexington Legends.

    The Franklin County Flyers hosted the Carroll County Panthers last season and sent the visitors home with a 10-9 loss after coming from behind in the bottom of the seventh inning. This season’s match-up proved to be just as thrilling.

    Softball drops home loss to Owen County, 7-6

    The Lady Panthers lost a 7-6 heartbreaker to the Lady Rebels of Owen County at home Thursday night. With a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh inning with two outs and runners on second and third, a ball was hit to pitcher Kayley Perry at the mound, but an overthrow at first base allowed both runners to score.

  • Soccer tourney to benefit...

    The Carroll County High School soccer team is sponsoring a 3V3 soccer tournament benefiting Kameron Nab on May 21 at the county park. There will be six age groups for the tournament: U10/12 co-ed, middle school co-ed, high school co-ed, high school boys, adult competitive (men) and adult recreational co-ed.
