  • Panthers win first round

    The Carroll County Panthers defeated the Silver Grove Big Trains 59-28 in the opening round of the North American Stainless Classic basketball tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 21. The Panthers outscored their opponent 34-9 in the first half to roll to an easy win, breaking a four-game losing streak.

    Dallas Gibson led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points, followed by John Walls, 10; John Perry, 7; Jay Damron, 6; Evan Mefford, 6; Patrick Booth, 5; Dakota Corbin, 4; Travis Ellis, 4; Brandon Stewart, 2; and Trey Boles, 1.

    The Carroll County Panthers hit 17 free throws in the fourth quarter to close out a 50-34 win against the Villa Madonna Blue Lightning in the second round of the North American Stainless Classic basketball tournament Thursday night. The Panthers advanced to the championship game Friday against Gallatin County.

    Turnovers were the determining factor in Gallatin County’s 58-46 victory over Carroll County in the North American Stainless Classic championship Friday night. The Wildcats committed just seven miscues compared to the Panthers’ 25.

    Boys lose to Gallatin

    The Panthers lost 59-44 to the Wildcats of Gallatin County Friday, Dec. 16 on the road. Carroll will participate in the North American Stainless Classic tournament beginning Wednesday, Dec. 21 at home. They will take on Silver Grove at 8:15 p.m.

  • Lady Panthers break losing...

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers broke a six-game losing streak with a 34-22 victory over Southern High School on Monday, Dec. 19 in the Lady Dragon Invitational.

    The Lady Panthers took on host South Oldham in the second round Tuesday night, but results were unavailable by presstime. They also will play Wednesday night.

    Carroll (2-6) forced 19 turnoevers, including nine steals in their win.

  • Lady Panthers search for offense

    Carroll County vs. Owen County, a classic district and border-rival battle. In recent years, it also has been a match-up between Carroll’s Hannah Devine and Owen’s Rianna Gayheart. Reigning NCKC Player of the Year, Devine came in a close second behind Gayheart for the 8th Region Player of the Year award. This year was to be the seniors’ last to compete against each other.
