  • Open testing set for Kentucky...

    The Sept. 20 ZLOOP 150 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event will mark the tour’s 20th Kentucky Speedway appearance since making its debut on the venue’s 1.5-mile tri-oval in 2000.

    The series will prepare for its Bluegrass State return — it’s been since 2009 — with an open test Thursday, July 18 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with an hour break for lunch at noon. Media are welcome to attend the session.

  • Yellow Jackets sign-ups | July...

  • Cross Country Meeting | July 17...

    Carroll County High School cross country meeting is at 6 p.m., July 22, in the high school gym. The meeting is open to both parents and student-athletes. The new head coach will be introduced at the meeting.

    The first practice will be held from 8-9:30 a.m. July 23 at General Butler State Park. Student-athletes must bring a copy of their current physicals. Practice also will be held at the same time and place July 25.

  • Parks and Rec Soccer sigups |...

    Carroll County Parks and Recreation co-ed youth soccer league registration is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 26 at their office on the third floor of the courthouse. Extended hours will be held from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17.

    The program is for children ages 2-11 as of July 31. Older children may be required to travel.

    Cost is $15 for U4 and U6 players (ages 2-5) and $25 for the other age groups. Additional siblings are $15 each.

  • Youth Soccer Camp July 22-26

    The fifth annual Carroll County High School soccer camp will be held Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26 at the Carroll County Westrick Park soccer fields. Camp is for children from four years old through eighth grade. Camp will begin at 5:30 p.m. for all campers. Campers ages four and five will end at 6:30 p.m.; everyone else will practice until 8:30 p.m.

    The cost for four- and five-year-olds is $15, and the cost for ages six and up is $25.

  • High school tennis courts now...

    If you have driven down Hwy. 227 past the Carroll County High School in the past week, you may have noticed something is missing.

    Construction began last week on the installation of the new tennis courts at the high school, meaning the old ones had to be removed. Tennis Technology Inc. of Louisville won the bid for the project at a cost of $103,222. The bid included three new courts, net posts and a vinyl coated fence with two gates. The company also will fix the drainage issues by installing a perimeter drainage system.

  • Wet Weather Weekend: Regatta Cup...

    MADISON, Ind.—High water levels of the rain-swollen Ohio River forced the cancellation of the 2013 Lucas Oil Indiana Governor’s Cup over the weekend.

    An inordinate amount of rainfall over the region kept officials of Madison Regatta, Inc., and H1 Unlimited guessing all weekend as to how soon the rising water would stabilize. Madison Regatta, Inc., is the volunteer organization that promotes the race each year. H1 Unlimited is the governing body for Unlimited hydroplane racing internationally.
