    SPARTA, Ky. – Retired military working dog Sgt. Beyco and ESPN NASCAR analyst Ricky Craven will join singer/songwriters MacKenzie Morgan and Ryan Broshear during prerace ceremonies on Kentucky Speedway’s Sept. 21-22 NASCAR doubleheader weekend. 

    Sgt. Beyco will join retired U.S. Army Command Sgt. Major Jimmy Supplee and Morgan on the NASCAR Nationwide Series Kentucky 300 prerace stage on Saturday.

  • XC competes at Grant

    Fifth grader Clara Tuttle finished 19th out of 120 runners in the 1-mile race, while four high school runners made their season debuts in the 39th Annual Grant County Invitational held at Sherman Elementary Saturday.

    The day started out cold and rainy for the girls varsity 5K race, head coach Joe Creager said in an e-mail. The Lady Panthers were led by junior Sierra Martinez, making her debut for the team as she is also playing soccer this fall. She finished with a time of 27:51.9. Also running for the girls team was sophomore Kristen Doan, who ran a time of 33:51.9.

  • Panthers host meet

    The Panther running team hosted an NCKC meet against conference rivals Trimble County, Walton-Verona, Henry County, Williamstown and Gallatin County at General Butler State Resort Park, Sept. 4.

    The night began with a JV race, where Carroll fifth grader Clara Tuttle finished in 6th place with a time of 16:53:43 in the two-mile race. Sophomore Kristen Doan finished in 14th place for the girls with a time of 24:37.84.

  • Lady Panthers win 3-1 over...

    The Lady Panthers volleyball team bounced back from a road-loss to Dayton to win 3-1 against Henry County in front of a home crowd Thursday, Sept. 6. With the win, the girls also avenged their 3-1 loss to the Lady Cats on Aug. 21.

    Carroll head coach Kristen Hooper said she was pleased with her team’s performance. “I like that my team was able to bounce back,” she said. “We lost to Dayton last night, and it was a frustrating loss.”

    Perez kick, C. Damron block in OT gives Panthers win

    It took overtime and two series of penalty kicks, but the Panthers soccer team managed to pull out a 3-2 district victory over Gallatin County on the road Tuesday, Sept. 4.

    “A win’s a win; we’ll take it,” head coach Ben Crutcher said, adding that his team (6-4) did not play very well coming out of the holiday weekend.

  • Panthers win Two Rivers...

    For the fourth straight year, the Carroll County boys soccer team won their Two Rivers Invitational, held at Panther Field Saturday. The Panthers defeated Evangel Christian in game one and Covington Holmes in the championship to win the tournament.

    Carroll senior Brandon Stewart was named MVP, while the following Panthers were named to the All-Tournament team: Josh McCarty, Jay Damron, Michael Hall and Jacob Beach.

  • Embs breaks single-game rushing...

    Carroll County High School running back Tyshaun Embs is re-writing history during his senior campaign.

    Already the new record-holder for most touchdowns in a game with six and most points scored in a game with 36 against Pendleton County in the season-opener, Embs now holds the record for most yards in a single game. That record had stood since 1980, when Lonnie Mumphrey collected 360 yards against Beth Haven.
