    Isaac Smith, son of Pat and Donya Smith of Richmond, Ky. and grandson of Mary Kathryn Smith of Carrollton has been awarded a four-year baseball scholarship with Division I, at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. Smith, a 2011 graduate of Madison Central High School in Richmond has been picked by coaches and media as the No. 6 player in Kentucky. He was chosen to play with the Kentucky All Stars in both 2010 and 2011.

    Smith plans to study engineering while at Bradley.

  • Golf scramble to benefit Crusade

    WHAS Crusade for Children will hold its annual golf scramble Friday, June 24, at Fairway Golf Course in Wheatley, Ky.

    Cost is $45 per person for teams of four, and a fun-filled day of golf is planned, including free food and drinks, door prizes, a 50/50 split-the-pot raffle, a chipping contest, and more.

    All proceeds will benefit the Crusade for Children.

    BEDFORD, Ky. – Trimble County High School basketball fans will see a familiar face in an unfamiliar role on the team bench when cage season dribbles in this fall.

    John Leep III has spent quite a bit of time pacing the floor and directing his teams on the sidelines of Trimble’s high school and middle gymnasiums. But always in the past, as coach of the middle school and junior varsity teams at Carroll County schools, Leep was plotting strategies to beat his then-archrivals – the Trimble County Raiders.
