Bid awarded, resident upset about sidewalk in Polk project

Local construction company Ohio Valley Asphalt won the bid for the Polk Street extension project at the April 12 city council meeting.

OVA, located in Carrollton, submitted the lowest bid of $454,272.75. Advanced Paving from Eastwood, Ky., Eaton Asphalt from Covington, Ky., Hale Contracting from Williamstown, Ky., and MAC Construction from New Albany, Ind., also submitted bids.

Mayor Dwight Louden said the information would be sent to Frankfort for final approval, and he hopes work on the project would begin soon.
