Unforeseen structural problems under a section of Kathryn Winn's roof are prompting changes for the 2018-2019 school year. Officials with Carroll County Schools made the annoucement Friday through a news release.
Kathryn Winn is currently undergoing a renovation to replace its roof and HVAC system. This project began last school year and is being managed by Wehr Constructors. The project was scheduled for completion before the Aug. 21 start of school.
During the renovation process, Wehr discovered that structural supports for a section of Kathryn Winn's roof need to be replaced. Until those supports are replaced, students cannot be in that section of the building.
On Tuesday, July 24 there will be a special board meeting at 6:00p.m. at Carroll County Middle School for Wehr Constructors to explain the situation and to discuss possible solutions.
"We appreciate everyone's support as we consider all options," said Superintendent Danny Osborne.
The Carroll County School District is a public school system that operates within the geographic boundaries of Carroll County, Kentucky. The district serves around 1,900 students K-12.
