  • Make time in your schedule for God

A short time ago I preached a sermon I entitled “Excuses.” It went something like this.

  • Protect the family

The Family is the fundamental building block of all human civilizations, and marriage is the foundation of the family. The institution of marriage is unquestionably good for individuals and society, and the health of our culture. Unfortunately, the standard of lifelong, traditional marriage as the foundation of family life in our country is under attack.

  • One vacation not to take

I have very fond memories from my childhood of going on summer vacation with my family.  There is something exciting about packing your bags, driving several hours, and being away from home for a few days.  However, now that I am an adult who does not get his summers off, I have found that I enjoy them even more.  It is good to get away and take a break with my family.  It is good to interrupt the routine, step back from the business of life, and be away with each other.  It is good to rest.

  • A letter to Daddy

    Dear Daddy,

  • The furry goodbye and the lonely food bowls

As a young boy I did not have any pets, and as I grew up and had my own family I had no anticipation of a pet or pets showing up in our household. Then, we met him one dayat the campground, a lonely cat that somehow attached himself to our family and our Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Yes, this copper and white-colored cat would not leave our campsite, even after the food was gone. Our two boys started asking, “Can we keep him, Dad? Can we?”
