  • Heifer development is very important to consider in a cow-calf operation.  Properly managing yearling heifer reproduction is the first step toward reproductive efficiency and profitability.

    A vital goal to reach for is to manage heifers so they will conceive early by reducing the age of puberty, shortening the time from puberty to conception, and increasing fertility.

  • The Republican Party of Carroll County will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 26, at the Community Room at 1208 Highland Ave. Lieutenant governor candidate Chris McDaniel is scheduled to speak. He is the running mate of gubernatorial candidate and current Agriculture Commissioner James Comer.

  • Operation Prom Dress Shop 2015 will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Relevant Church gymnasium. This year’s theme is “The Red Carpet Experience.” Operation Prom Dress is a free event for high school girls looking for a dress for prom. There are more than 1,000 dresses to choose from. Girls have the opportunity to leave with a dress, shoes, purse, jewelry and makeup all for free.

  • February is the month of love thanks to St. Valentine and Library Legislative Day.  This is the time of the year we take our message to Frankfort and let all of our representatives know how much we love our libraries.  We are fortunate to have great representatives that truly understand the value of libraries in our state, but it is always good to remind them.

  • The fifth annual Carroll County Relay for Life pageants will be held from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Carroll County Middle School auditorium. The event is sponsored by Team Robbins, and all proceeds benefit the Carroll County Relay for Life.

    The pageants are open to everyone and cost $35 per participant, except for the Survivor category, which is free to enter.
