  • A number of years ago I wrote a story about a man who was as lost as a soul could be.

When I met him, he was a pastor, although he didn’t look like a typical pastor, if there is such a thing.

I remember his shaved head and “ROUGH” tattooed across the back of his neck. I also remember thinking he was one scary looking dude.

His wasn’t a sanitized, heartwarming story, although it started out that way.

  • The weather has been more than interesting this year, as we have experienced a long winter, practically no spring, and here we are with high 80-degree weather. With the higher temperatures we have experienced and will be experiencing in the coming days, we need to think about how we care for our livestock in high temperatures.

Livestock become uncomfortable when the heat index reaches about 90 degrees. The heat index is a combination of air temperature and humidity. We use it to describe how it feels outside.

  • Carrollton Fire Department and Worthville Volunteer Fire Department, as well as local volunteers, collected donations door-to-door in Carrollton for Crusade For Children May 16.

  • ello once again, my friends. Sometime since I last wrote we sprung out of spring and landed smack dab in the middle of summer. The heat and humidity are here and I'm guessing, all the way until fall. But now that the warm weather is here it’s time to get outside and stop heating up the kitchen every time we want to cook something. The best way to do this is to fire up the grill. But what if there was another way beyond the grill? A way to cook anything we wanted and do it outside? Well my friends, I've found that way.

  • The following short quiz consists of four questions and tells whether you are qualified to be a “professional.” According to Andersen Consulting Worldwide, around 90 percent of the professionals they tested got all questions wrong. But many preschoolers got several correct answers!

    1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator put in the giraffe and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.
