• William Edgar Powell, 51

    BEDFORD, Ky. – William Edgar “Eddie” Powell, 51, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Bedford Health Care.

    He owned an excavation company. He was a honorary lifetime member of the La Grange Fire and Rescue Department, and was a Baptist by faith.

    Survivors include his daughter, Alisa (Anthony) Penick; two grandchildren; his mother, Joyce Powell; a sister, Debbie Stamper: three brothers, Freddie (Sandi) Powell, Bobby Powell and Tommy (Jennifer) Powell; and several nieces and nephews.

  • Billy O. Fugate, 62

    CAMPBELLSBURG, KY. – Billy O. Fugate, 62, of Campbellsburg died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at his residence.

    Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Ransdell Funeral Home, 441 U.S. 42 West, Bedford, Ky., with Pastor James Montgomery and Sister Kathy Montgomery officiating.

    Mr. Fugate was born June 20, 1946, in Turners Station, Ky., to the late Everett O. and Martha Fugate.

    He enjoyed walking in the woods, hunting, playing on his computer and spending time with his grandchildren.

    CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. – Callie Mae Woods, 75, of Campbellsburg died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at her home.

    She was a homemaker and was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Campbellsburg.

  • Jim Rogers, 64

    Chattanooga, Tenn. – Jim Rogers, 64, of Chattanooga died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008.

    Funeral services were Friday Sept. 5. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, with the Revs. Johnny Nix, Randy Bell and Bill Denham officiating. Burial was in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

    Mr. Rogers was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. He was employed with Ben Miller and Cool Springs Beauty Supplies. He was a member of Harmon Baptist Church and was active in the bus ministry and Men’s Fellowship.

  • Donald Henry, 45

    GHENT, Ky. – Donald Henry, 45,  of Warsaw died, Friday, Sept. 12, in Ghent.

    A memorial service was Monday, Sept. 15, at the Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home, 108 E. Main St., Warsaw, with Jay Doyer officiating. After cremation, his ashes will be placed in Ghent Cemetery.

    Mr. Henry was born Oct. 19, 1962, in Carrollton, Ky., to the late Herman D. Henry Jr., and to Verna L. Ellis Moore of Warsaw.

    He worked as a mechanic.

  • Wilbur N. Cundiff, 85

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Wilbur N. Cundiff, 85, of Louisville died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Baptist Hospital East.

    Mr. Cundiff was born Mar. 5, 1923. He was a graduate of Male High School and attended the University of Louisville. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

    He worked 42 years for the B.F. Goodrich Chemical Co. During retirement, he volunteered with the Blinded Veterans Association and the TARC board.

    GHENT, Ky. – Betty M. Brown, 65, of Ghent died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at her home.

    Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 5, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, Ky., with the Rev. Howard Wade officiating. Burial was in the Worthville Cemetery in Worthville, Ky.

    Mrs. Brown was born May 6, 1943, in Worthville to the late John W. and Rebekka (Osborne) Chadwell.

    She was a homemaker and a member of the Macadonia Baptist Church in Jonesville, Ky.

    FORTVILLE, Ind. – The Rev. Douglas “Ducky” Bell, 70, formerly of Madison, Ind., died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at his residence in Fortville.

    Funeral services are 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 10,  Bell Mortuary and Creamatory, Shangrila Chapel, 1512 W. US Hwy. 52, Finly, Ind. A graveside service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, Ky., with the Rev. Terry Long officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – Brenda A. Earls, 62, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at her residence in Carrollton.

    Funeral services will be held today at the Pentecostals of Carrollton Church in Carrollton from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the Revs. Ron Tiller, E.D. Puckett and James Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Warsaw Cemetery, Warsaw, Ky.

    Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Avenue, Carrollton is in charge of funeral arrangements.

    Mrs. Earls was born April 1, 1946, in Warsaw to the late Virgil T. and Elizabeth (Beach) Adams.

    CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. – Bruce W. Brading, 56, of Campbellsburg died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in his home following a long illness.

    A memorial celebration ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre, 395 Paroquet Springs Drive, Shepherdsville, Ky.

    Mr. Brading was born May 3, 1952, in Louisville to Joseph H. and Janetta Brading. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in Lexington and was a Kentucky Colonel.
