• Aulbach achieves dream of being valedictorian

    Nine years ago, Abigail Aulbach watched family friend Devon Hill walk across the Carroll County High School stage and give her valedictorian speech in 2009. Two years later, another family friend, Kyndal Curry (now Yager), took the podium for her valedictorian speech in 2011. Both times, Abigail returned home dreaming of doing the same. As she grew older, that dream became a goal, and on Sunday, June 3, that dream became a reality.

  • BOE considers proposal to push back start of school day

    Carroll County students may start getting a few more minutes of sleep.

    The Carroll County Schools Board of Education is considering a proposal to push back the current hours of the school day by 40 minutes.

    Assistant Superintendent Doug Oak told the board at its meeting May 24, the idea came from a group of Carroll County High School Spark Academy students who met with him to discuss ways school could be improved. One of the ideas brought up was moving back the start time.

    Rotary Club of Carrollton hosted and sponsored the Carroll County High School Academic Honors Banquet May 2, at the high school.

  • Frye recognized for ACT score

    Carroll County Middle School seventh-grader Andrew Frye earned state recognition for hitting benchmark scores on an ACT exam that students took as part of the Duke’s Talent Search program. In recognition of his college-ready benchmark scores on the ACT, Frye attended a ceremony May 23, at Western Kentucky University. Additionally, WKU, Duke and other institutions have invited him to participate in summer camps as a result of his scores.

  • Osborne hired as new superintendent

    Carroll County Board of Education unanimously voted May 24, to approve a four-year contract with former Owen County High School principal Danny Osborne as the new superintendent of Carroll County Schools. Osborne will replace Interim Superintendent Ron Livingood, Ed.D., who was signed to a one-year contract while the Board of Education searched for a long-term replacement for former superintendent Bill Hogan.


    Carroll County High School held a ceremony for students that will be entering one of the military branches, May 21.

    Friday, May 25: Breakfast: cinnamon roll or Pop Tarts and banana; Lunch: Roast beef and gravy with roll or grilled cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, banana or fruit sorbet.
