  • CCHS musicians present concert
  • JCTC sets registration

    Jefferson Community and Technical College will hold registration for its adult education classes in January.
    Registration will be Jan. 3 at 10 a.m. Evening registration will be held on Jan. 3 and 4 at 4 p.m.
    Classes are free and begin Jan. 10 to prepare for a GED exam on March 12.

  • Snow days come early for Carroll school administrators

    As first grade students and their families left Kathryn Winn Primary after their Monday-evening musical production of “We are Lights,” heavy snowflakes were beginning to collect on cars in the parking lot.  The play, originally scheduled for Monday, December 13, had finally been performed after two previous cancellations due to inclement weather.
    With four snow cancellations in December, schools in Carroll County have had to be both creative and patient in adjusting to the weather.

  • Carroll schools address new state literacy requirements

    A focus on 21st century communication skills is one aspect of Senate Bill 1 that is bringing changes to Kentucky school curriculum, according to Pam Williams, Elementary Instructional Supervisor for Carroll County schools. Local school officials have already implemented a number of those changes ahead of time, Williams told the members of the Carroll County Board of Education Thursday.

    At Kathryn Winn Primary School, breakfast or lunch is often more than just a meal.  Whether it’s “Thanksgiving Luncheon,” “Breakfast with Santa,” or “The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party,” these special events often feed more than children’s bodies; they also nourish their minds and hearts.

    Wed., Dec 8. Breakfast, breakfast pizza; lunch: homemade chili and grilled cheese sandwich, vegetable sticks with dip, fresh apples, cookies and milk.
    Thurs., Dec. 9, Breakfast: donut with icing; lunch: soft taco or chicken fajita with lettuce, tomato, and cheese, Mexican rice, pinto beans, chips and salsa, fruit and milk.
    Fri., Dec. 10, Breakfast: pancakes with bacon; lunch: chili hot dog with bun and toppings, French Fries, broccoli with cheese sauce, pineapple tidbits and milk.

    Kentucky Tech Carroll County Area Technology Center will hold its annual open house Thursday, Dec. 16 from 3-8 p.m. 

  • Geology club gets adventurous

    At Jefferson Community and Technical College Carrollton Campus there is a new organization that is quickly becoming the most adventurous club ever encountered by its students.

    Geology Club, The Geo-Adventurers Chapter, is sponsored by geology instructor Caroline Reisner, formed on the Carrollton JCTC campus on Oct. 14, and signed more than 20 members in its first week.
