• CCHS winter concert Dec. 13

    The Carroll County High School Band presents its annual Winter Concert Sunday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. in the high school gym. The concert will include performances by the high school concert band, symphonic band, jazz band, percussion ensemble and steel band.

  • Zuckerberg, district on same page with personalized learning

    Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, announced Dec. 1, that they would direct 99 percent of their Facebook shares (worth an estimated $45 billion) toward “advancing human potential and promoting equality.” While people may have opposing views on how to achieve that goal, teachers, principals and others who devote their lives to students see education as a great equalizer and as the interstate of “advancing human potential.” On this point, they and Zuckerberg agree.

  • JCTC students live dream through work at Louisville Zoo

    For two Carrollton students, the dream of working with animals at the Louisville Zoo became a reality during the Fall 2015 semester.

    Associate of Science majors Veronica Dancy and Kelsey Hoskins received the opportunity as they pursued the Zoo Animal Technology certificate at JCTC. Several science courses like zoology, human ecology and biology are requirements for the certificate.

  • Presents for paws

    Carroll County Middle School students Megan Perkinson and Heaven O’Neal are starting an animal supplies drive at CCMS to support animals in the Carroll County Animal Shelter without homes.

    Some supplies needed are leashes, collars, grooming tools, water and food bowls, portable kennels, and dog and cat food. Items can be dropped off in the front office of the Middle School. Any donations are appreciated.

    This menu is for Kathryn Winn Primary and Cartmell Elementary Schools, changes for Carroll County High School and Middle School will be italicized.

    Thursday, Dec. 10: Sausage biscuit or mini cinnis and apple; lunch: Soft taco, lettuce/tomato, cheese/salsa/sour cream, refried beans, Mexican rice, grapes or pineapple tidbits. Carroll County Middle and High School will offer Sausage cheese bagel for breakfast and taco or chicken fajita for lunch.

  • Panthers compete at STLP

    Two Carroll County High School STLP projects qualified for state.

    For their STLP project, Cody Boswell, Daniel Phillips, Garrett Sanders and Eli Yocum reverse engineered a Nerf gun. Reverse engineering is mainly used to either find out what is wrong with a product or discovery.

    Would you be the first in your family to graduate from college?

    Eastern Kentucky University has established a Trailblazer Scholarship Award to assist students seeking to be the first in their families to earn a college degree.

    This fall, more than 800 new freshmen entering EKU were first-generation students.
