  • Fishback celebrates 100 years

    A crowd of nearly 70 people gathered at New’s Auction in Carrollton on Sunday to help Reva Fishback celebrate her 100th birthday.

    The event couldn’t have been in a more fitting place because Fishback is known as the “queen of the auction house,” her granddaughter Bev Hughes said in a Friday interview.

    Fishback worked at News Auction every Friday night for many years, helping folks with information on items up for sale. Hughes said she would offer details, such as its age and whether it was an original or a reproduction.

  • P’ville hires Gamm as City Attorney

    Prestonville City Commission voted unanimously Monday to hire Corey Gamm as the new City Attorney at its Sept.16 meeting. The current City Attorney Alecia Gamm-Hubbard announced her resignation from the position, effective Sept. 19, during the August meeting. 

    Gamm is with the law firm of Gamm & Hubbard located in Warsaw.  The conditions of his employment will be the same as Hubbard.

    Hubbard has agreed to stay on with the city through their litigation with Can-Do Construction over the Community Center building.

  • Carroll couple charged with abusing their adult daughter

    Kentucky State Police Post 5 arrested a Carroll County couple Wednesday, Sept. 11, on charges of neglecting their disabled daughter. 

  • NAS donation to benefit CCMH physical therapy

    A project to improve the physical therapy department at Carroll County Memorial Hospital got a shot in the arm Friday with a $50,000 donation from North American Stainless.

    NAS Vice President-Finance and Administration Mary Jean Riley presented the check at a ceremony attended by hospital staff, board members and Carroll County Fiscal Court.

    Riley said NAS understands the importance of the hospital and she has experienced it herself in the 36 years she has lived here.

  • City sign by Butler Park to be replaced

    Carrollton City Council reversed its previous decision to replace the city entrance sign at the Prestonville Bridge and opted to replace the sign across from General Butler State Resort Park instead. Council unanimously voted Monday, Sept. 9, to rescind the previous motion from a special council meeting held Wednesday, Sept. 4.

  • Infestation: Harvest best option for park

    Officials with Kentucky State Parks were encouraged Monday night to make the best out of a bad situation — the emerald ash borer infestation at General Butler State Resort Park.

  • First phase of trails now ready to use

    Though the project hasn’t extended as far as originally planned, state, county and city officials gathered at the National Guard Armory Tuesday to officially open Phase One of the Park to Park Trails project.
