    Hello once again, my friends. As I sit typing this we find ourselves smack dab in the middle of the summer rut. By the summer rut I mean, full scale temperatures, but not quite to the point of taking full advantage of summer produce. I call this the summer rut. The tomatoes, sweet corn and many of the fruit trees are there but not quite ready to pick and eat. But, let’s not lament. There are plenty of early veggies and fruits that are available that we can take advantage of.

    The Carroll County Public Library is located at 136 Court Street in Carrollton. The summer Reading Program Finale will be Friday, June 29, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. with prizes, lunch and inflatables.

  • BOE tables discussion on pushing back start times

    The Carroll County School Board further postponed its decision June 21, on changing the school district’s start time.

    “The main concern for people is that it will inconvenience them, but it inconveniences people now,” Assistant Superintendent Doug Oak said. Since board member D’anne Smith couldn’t attend the meeting, she requested the issue be tabled so that she may discuss and vote on the issue with the rest of the board.

  • Orientation for Jefferson Community and Technical College

    Carroll County students who have scheduled classes at Jefferson Community and Technical College for the fall semester must attend an orientation. This includes students taking Early Childhood classes.

    Go online and register for an orientation. Please do not delay so that you can choose a date.

    It is essential for all students who are going to JCTC for classes to make time for orientation. The orientation dates are as follows:

    July 6 at 9 a.m.

    July 31 at 9 a.m.

    July 31 at 2 p.m.

    Aug. 1 at 1 p.m.
