  • Don’t prejudge; take time to see for yourself

    Have you ever thought that someone was really different than what they really were because of suppositions you made or things someone told you? Have you ever prejudged someone and then learned that they are not like what you thought — at all? Have you ever negatively stereotyped someone because of what they looked like, who they hung out with, or what they stood for and then found that they were actually a better person than what you thought they were? I mean, you even found out you liked them!

    Thursday, May 15: Taco on tortilla, chicken fajita on tortilla, lettuce/tomato/cheese/salsa, refried beans, orange or applesauce, breakfast: Chicken biscuit.

    Friday, May 16: Hamburger/cheeseburger on bun, lettuce/tomato/pickle, French-fries, apple or diced pears; breakfast: Donuts.

  • Grants providing high-quality tools for CCMS, CCHS

    Thanks to more than $20,000 in grants from the R.C. Durr Foundation, the Kentucky Society for Technology in Education and the Kinder Morgan Foundation, Carroll County High School is getting a technology upgrade.

    “We’re very thankful to these organizations for allowing us to give students the tools that they need to achieve their maximum potential,” district technology coordinator Cindy Johann said.  “With these grants, we are able to provide our students with cutting-edge scientific instruments, design software and 3D printers.”

  • Diabetes Care Center hosts a free “Focus on Insulin” program at KDH

    The King’s Daughters’ Health Diabetes Care Center will host another free community program from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, in the Oak Conference Rooms at the hospital. The name of the program is “Managing Diabetes: Focus on Insulin.”

    Open to the public, the “Managing Diabetes: Focus on Insulin” program targets these topics:

    • Patients who are currently using insulin;

    • Patients who may be nervous or afraid about starting insulin therapy;
