  • Lady Raiders top visiting Lady Panthers, 2-0

    Experience and size were cited by both coaches as keys to Trimble County’s 2-0 win (25-9, 25-10) over visiting Carroll County in high school volleyball action Aug. 29.

  • Carroll drops heartbreaker to Gallatin in five sets

    Two evenly-matched teams took to the floor Thursday, Sept. 1, in a district matchup that required the full distance of five sets before the winner was determined. In the end it was the visiting Gallatin County Lady Wildcats who persevered, winning 3-2 over Carroll County.

  • Panthers unable to defend All ‘A’ title, lose to Walton-Verona, 3-1

    Looking to defend its 8th Region All ‘A’ title, the Panthers soccer team suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss to Walton-Verona Thursday. Carroll County defeated Walton-Verona, 4-3, in last year’s championship game–the Panthers’ first win over the Bearcats since 2007–but could not make it two in a row.

    Walton-Verona defeated Gallatin County, 3-0, in the championship game Saturday at Owen County High School.

  • Carroll defeats Switzerland County for first win

    Just like last season, the Carroll County Panthers football team notched their first win of the season against Switzerland County. However, this is not the same Pacers team that the Panthers steamrolled in a 58-0 win last season. The Pacers picked up their first program win last week against Gallatin County, 32-0, and were looking to continue their winning streak at Carrollton.

    The Panthers’ defense led the charge as Carroll County won, 29-12.

  • Lady Panthers fall in All ‘A,’ 7-1

    The Lady Panthers soccer team (2-5) suffered a 7-1 loss to Walton-Verona in the All ‘A’ Tournament Sept. 1, at Panther Field. But head coach Josh Noble came away with positives from his team’s performance.

    “As a team, that was the best game we’ve ever played, [and we] played the best team we’re going to play this year,” he said.

  • Dermon takes fifth at Switzerland Co.

    Carroll County Cross County runners competed in the Switzerland County meet on Aug. 24.

    The girls’ team took three runners and did not qualify for a team score. The Lady Panthers were lead by senior Haley Dermon who placed fifth with a time of 25.12. Sophomore Lauren Cox placed 23rd with a time of 36:26 and Stephanie Saulsberry placed 29th with a time 39:15. Anders from Switzerland County won the race with a time of 21:58.

  • Lady Panthers win back-to-back against Bellevue

    The Lady Panthers soccer team defeated Bellevue in a back-to-back home and away series, winning 5-0 Aug. 24. But while the score may have been the same, the way Carroll County played was not.

    “It was much better today,” head coach Josh Noble said.

  • Carroll golf teams compete in All ‘A’

    The Carroll County boys golf team finished in second place with a team score of 359 in the All ‘A’ Tournament Aug. 25, at Fairway Golf Course.

    The Carroll County girls team finished in fifth, but it was the first 18-hole match for three of the team’s five players.

    Owen County won both the girls and boys tournaments. The other schools competing were Gallatin County, Trimble County, Walton-Verona and Williamstown (boys only).

  • Lady Panthers win home opener, 2-0

    The Lady Panthers volleyball team held on for a close win in the first set and rode Cheyenne Lawrence’s 11-point serving streak in the second to defeat Lloyd Memorial, 25-20, 25-9, to open their home season Aug. 23.

  • Offense still looking to get on track; football falls 21-0

    After a slow start, the Panthers’ defense stood up to the challenge Friday night against Henry County, but the offense is still struggling to get off the ground, as Carroll County lost 21-0 at home Aug. 26.

    Carroll’s offense managed just 27 yards of total offense (10 rushing and 17 passing).

    Short fields put the Panthers defense at a disadvantage. The offense turned the ball over on downs at their own 42-yard line, leading to a 4-yard touchdown run by Tyler Raisor and two-point conversion by Dylan Mayer.
