    With the first step of having a construction manager under contract, Carroll County Fiscal Court met with Kyle Withers of Churchill-McGee July 2, at a special meeting to discuss the scope of work for the baseball complex at Robert Westrick Memorial Park.

    The purpose of the meeting was summed up by Parks and Recreation Director J.P. Dale when he said there are several sets of plans floating around and some of the work has been completed so all the involved parties wanted to determine who was responsible for what.

    Congratulations to Carroll County High School’s Kinley Huesman, Kameron Nab and Conner Hartman for making the 2018 All-State Team in the Kentucky State High School Clay Target League. The league recognizes those students with the top 25 League averages. The athletes received an All-State patch.

  • Basketball Camp

    Life Go Right camp, a basketball camp for students entering the fifth grade through ninth grades, will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays July 10-26. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the Carroll County Middle School.

    Former Carroll County standout Marc Mumphrey will be the camp director.

    Carroll County Parks and Recreation Director J.P. Dale said students can register for the camp through Parks and Recreation website, www.carrollcountyparksandrecreation.org.

    When Chris Hendrick underwent chemotherapy Tuesday, June 19. in Louisville, he occupied his mind with happy thoughts of umpiring in the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA State Baseball Tournament the past two weekends in Lexington.

    Hendrick, who has been battling cancer the past 21 months, finds refuge on the diamond.

    Team Kentucky will take its final steps on the Road to the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games when they depart from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on Saturday, June 30.

    Team Kentucky features 45 athletes and 18 coaches who will compete in eight sports at the USA Games, which will be held July 1-6 in Seattle, Washington. Kentucky athletes hail from Bowling Green, Carrollton, Carter County, Elizabethtown, Georgetown, Glasgow, Lexington, Louisville, Northern Kentucky, Murray, Ohio County and Owensboro.
