  • Softball mounts comeback to beat...

    One poor inning and a minor injury to starting pitcher Andrea Searcy could have spelled disaster for the Lady Panthers softball team. Instead, the girls showed they were resilient and tough, pulling out a 3-2 victory over Dixie Heights May 15.

  • Unified track meet

    Carroll County High School track and field athletes competed in a unified track meet May 7, at Ryle High School. Carroll County’s 4x100-meter relay team of Katlyn Colston, Zakk Wilson, Derrius Watson and Dylan Williamson came in first place.

    Williamson and Watson finished in first place in the 2x100-meter race and first place in the long jump. Williamson teamed up with Wilson in the shot put, winning first place. Williamson finished in second place in the 100-meter open race.

    Colston and Wilson finished in third place in the shot put. 

  • Shooting Sports season underway

    The Shooting Sports 4-H Education Program began in Kentucky in 1988. The program grew rapidly where now it involves approximately 8,000 youth and over 3000 volunteers statewide. Carroll County has 34 active members and 13 adult certified coaches, three teen certified coaches and one shooting sports state teen ambassador.

    The program believes the following:

    •Youth development is the number one goal of the Shooting Sports Education Program.

    •It provides an effective tool for human growth and development for youth and adults.

  • Marshall, Wille represented...

    After becoming the only two Panthers this season to make it to this year’s Class 1A State track meet May 17, in Lexington, Carroll County High School freshman Sarah Marshall and sophomore Joshua Wille have new results and new goals for the next season.

    Marshall finished 21st out of 22 athletes in the 800-meter run, but was only one of five ninth-graders in the competition. The top three finishers in that state competition were in either 11th or 12th grade. Marshall ran the event in 2:37.94, about four seconds slower than the mark that got her to state.

  • Panthers score 11 in first three...

    Carroll County rode early hitting to an 11-0 lead after three innings and held on for an 11-5 victory over Gallatin County in the first round of the 31st District baseball tournament held May 21, at Henry County. Carroll advanced to the 31st District championship against Henry County. The game was postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday evening due to weather and will appear in next week’s paper.

  • Searcy’s strikeouts lead Lady...

    The Carroll County High School softball team shut down Henry County on their home field, 6-1, in the 31st District Semifinal Monday night.

    The Lady Panthers had a tough time getting off the ground, as they didn’t net their first hit until the top of the third inning, after a lightning delay halted the game. Before the storm, CCHS was 0-6 and four of their six batters had been retired by strikeout.

  • 2018 Student-Athlete of the Year...

    Congratulations to the 2018 Student-Athletes of the Year: Eli Yocum and Abigail Aulbach. Their portraits and stories will appear in the May 31 edition. Nominees will receive a certificate and winners will receive a plaque at Honors Day.

  • CCMS boys beat Henry en route to...

    The Carroll County Middle School Panthers soccer team defeated visiting Henry County 1-0 in a tight conference matchup May 3, en route to an undefeated season. The Panthers ended the season May 10, with a record of 8-0-2. They scored 24 goals and gave up only three all season.

    After the victory over Henry, head coach Kevin States said the Panthers tied the Wildcats 0-0 earlier in the season, and Henry was the only team Carroll had not beaten in the conference.

  • 2018 Student-Athlete of the Year...
  • Record-setting Lady Panthers...

    The Carroll County Middle School Lady Panthers’ soccer team picked up win No. 6 on May 3, against the visiting Henry County Middle School Lady Wildcats. It was Carroll County’s fifth shutout victory of the season at the time, winning 3-0.
