Carroll County’s Kaitlyn Hensley has committed to play basketball for Kaskaskia Junior College in Illinois.

Hensley, a 5-foot-5 senior guard, averaged 16.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season. She scored her 1,000th career point in December and received all-North Central Kentucky Conference and all-31st District honors along the way.

Kaskaskia College, located in Centralia, Illinois, competes in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC) that also includes Wabash Valley College, Southwestern Illinois, John A. Logan College, Olney Central College, Rend Lake College, Lincoln Trail College and Shawnee Community College.

The Blue Angels did not compete in 2023-24 after their former coach resigned shortly before the season but the team was 17-14 overall and 7-7 in the GRAC in 2022-23. The team will resume play in 2024-25 under new head coach Perry Michael, who was hired in February to take over the program.

Michael, a graduate of Indiana State, is a former assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Olney Central College, and an assistant men’s basketball coach at Indiana University Kokomo.

Kaskaskia, a two-year college, has served as a player feeder for four-year programs with top Blue Angels players signing with the University of Charleston, West Virginia; Lemoyne-Owen College and Shorter University in recent years.
