The Agape Family Nurturing Center Inc., will host its first-ever Spring Fling Handmade Crafts event on Saturday, May 11, at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton.

Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2520 KY 227 in Carrollton, the event will host 30 craft vendors selling handmade items ranging from paintings and crochet works to candles, jewelry, water bottles, and more.

Kim Skees, executive director of Agape Family Nurturing Center (AFNC), said the event is to not only help support AFNC but also bring awareness to the organization and “get the community involved — that’s the big thing.

“We’re really making it a family event for families to get together and just have a good day together,” said Skees. “We’re all about families.”

Started four years ago by Skees, she said AFNC “has really grown out of the love for people and families.” The organization works on developing on-going relationships between parents and their children in order to make significant changes in their home. It serves as a resource to help prevent abuse and helps to edify, equip, support, and encourage families by offer parenting classes, parenting groups, stress management, life coaching, recovery programs, and more.

The craft event is the group’s second event in the last year. A Winter Bizarre was held in December 2023.

“We’re really hoping it’ll grow every year and become just a really good spring thing to do to get families all together,” Skees said. “As it grows, I’m hoping that more people will get involved in it ... and become even bigger.”

Skees hopes to continue hosting the two bi-annual events — one in winter and one in the spring — in the future.

“I really want this to continue,” she said. “I just think it’s a great thing for the community … Each year, we’re just going to be able to gain more momentum.”
