Fatal Fire

Kentucky State Police are investigating a structure fire that claimed the life of a male victim on Sunday afternoon in rural Carroll County about 8 miles south of Carrollton just off KY 55.

At approximately 4:19 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office contacted KSP Post 5 regarding a structure fire at 131 Amanda Lane in Carroll County.

It was reported that a home was burning and a person was possibly still inside the residence.

KSP Post 5 troopers and detectives responded to the scene. Fire departments from both Carroll and Henry counties responded to the residence. After firefighters extinguished the fire, a search of the scene located unidentified human remains inside the residence.

Carroll County Coroner Brent Stucker said preliminary autopsy results indicate the male victim died from “smoke inhalation and thermal burns” but his name is not being released at this time pending positive identification.

According to state police, no foul play is suspected in the fire at this time. The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 5 as well as the coroner’s and medical examiner’s offices.
