A little boy asked his mother what that thing was that his dad took to work each day. His mother told him that it was a thermos. The boy asked what it was used for, and she told him it was used to keep cold things cold and hot things hot. The boy asked his mother if she would buy him a thermos for school.
The boy was quite proud of his new thermos and wanted to fill it himself and take it to school. The first day he took his thermos to school, his teacher noticed it. “Where did you get the thermos?” the teacher asked.
The boy answered, “My mother bought it for me.”
The teacher quizzed him, “What do you do with a thermos?”
The boy proudly answered, “You keep cold things cold and hot things hot.”
The teacher continued, “So, what’s inside your thermos?”
The boy told his teacher, “A cup of hot chocolate and two Popsicles!”
The boy was well meaning of the use of his brand new thermos, but not very smart in the use of it. When it comes to us we need help in this life.
James 1:5-8 says “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” NLT
If you are breathing, then you need wisdom from God to make smart decisions. Why? Proverbs 14:12 states “There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end it leads to death.” Left to our own wisdom will not result in smart decisions.
If you want God’s wisdom all you have to do is ask. He will not get mad at you and pronounce to you “You…Big…Dummy!!” He knows you need His wisdom, so ask Him. When you ask Lord make sure you trust Him 100%. You can have 100% confidence in these facts about the Lord:
